Mrs. Shinn’s second grade class has read the book “Flat Stanley” and we are now sending him on an adventure. The students are excited to be involved in this very fun and exciting project based on the book "Flat Stanley" written by Jeff Brown. In the book Stanley is flattened one night by a falling bulletin board. One of the many advantages is that Flat Stanley can now visit his friends by traveling in an envelope.
For this project, the students have made paper Flat Stanley’s and we are mailing them to friends, or relatives. We have collected addresses of people willing to be a very special part of our project. They will treat Stanley like a guest and take him with them when they can. They will then record each of his adventures in a daily journal. They will have Flat Stanley as a guest for 2-7 days before they mail Stanley back to us at school. The students will keep track of where Stanley has been by marking on the map we have in our classroom. The students hope to get many pictures and postcards from Stanley. We will make a classroom book about all the places he visits on his traveling adventure.
