Web Design Web Quest

Introduction Task Process Evaluation
 
Introduction
Surfing the web is a daily occurrence for many.   Businesses are going online to attract and keep their customers. Web page design is a hot career topic today.

What if you were hired to create a web page for an existing or a new business?    Would you even know where to begin?  This WebQuest will help you find the necessary resources to build a web page for either an imaginary or an actual business or organization using web authoring software. Business topics to be covered include Marketing, Communication, Management, and Computer Applications.

Task
The student is expected to:
(A) Choose an appropriate business to design a web page for;
(B) Select and apply appropriate technology as tools to address business needs;
(C) perform specific tasks using appropriate specialized hardware and
software;
(E) research and develop a business project incorporating data imported
from various sources; and
(F) select and apply technology to process and manipulate text, graphics,and other images.

Process
Students will design a web page for a business or organization using web authoring software. Please consider the following schedule as a rough draft.

Day 1:
Teacher assigns pairs, if the class will work in pairs.
Students will choose a business or organization.
Students will begin brainstorming and sketching their web page out on paper.

Day 2:
Students should complete their sketch and outline of their web page.
Surf the Internet using the resource links provided, and begin collecting
backgrounds/wallpaper, bullets or buttons, clip art, music, ideas, sound effects, etc. Students will need to create folders for each web page element or accessory.
Begin creating a web page containing all of the required components.

Day 3-10:
Create and complete web pages.

Day 11:
Students will present their web pages for the class and instructor as the big finale using public speaking/presentation management skills.

Students will respond to the project in a report (minimum of one double-spaced page)
