Course Philosophy, Description, and Objectives:

This course has been developed based upon the belief that in order for teachers to effectively and continuously integrate technology into the educational process, they need the time to practice and the skills to give them confidence.

Developing these skills in educators is the purpose of this course. This is achieved by creating a learning environment in which teachers repeatedly apply skills to the creation of educational materials and then begin integrating technology in their classrooms.

Upon completing this course, each educator will:

Integrating the Internet:

Learning a product as a productivity tool-Microsoft Word

Toolbars, tabs, tables, bullets and numbering, graphics, etc.

Exploration time-Analyze possible uses of Word

Lab time

Ticket Out

Day 2 Learning a product as a presentation tool- Microsoft PowerPoint

Toolbars, templates, backgrounds, transitions, animations, automations, Interactive settings, etc.

Creating multimedia (images, sound, video) and placing multimedia in a PowerPoint Presentation

Exploration time- Analyze possible uses of PowerPoint

Day 3 Learning a publication product– Microsoft Publisher

Designing for print- Layout, Purpose

Elements of design- Fonts, Graphics, Color

Styles Gallery- templates and blank presentations

Exploration time- Analyze possible uses of Publisher

Day 4

Learning a product as a presentation tool - Movie Maker

Creating a simple movie

Exploration Time - Analyze possible uses of Movie Maker

After Lunch

Learning a product for calculations- Microsoft Excel

Creating a spreadsheet, Adding functions, Creating graphs

Exploration time- Analyze possible uses of Excel

Day 5

Field Experience:  Microsoft Office 2007

Lab time – finish projects for each application

Showcase projects

Post test- "Share the Dreams"
