My First Day
See me skip
See me run,
I'm going to school
Like everyone!
See me smile,
See me grin,
When the bell rings,
I walk in.
See
me work,,
See me play,
I'm in first grade,
My first day!

I Can Read
"I can't read," said the spider
"I can't read," said the bee.
"I can't read," said the centipede,
"I CAN," said me!

Back at school again
There’s______, and _____,

Here we are together,
Back at school again.

Every Week
“Are You
Sleeping”
Every week has 7 days,
See how many you can say.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday, Friday,
Saturday.
What’s today?
What's today?

Good Morning
Good Morning to the school,
Good morning to the flag,
Good morning to the pencils and the pens.
Good morning to the teacher,
Good morning to the kids,
Good morning to learning with my friends.

Taking Turns
Sometimes it's hard to wait my turn
for I get so excited;
Often the words just blurt right out.
They have been invited.
I must remember to wait until
my teacher calls on me.
I'll rise my hand and quietly wait--
that's how it has to be!

Back to School
by Aileen Fisher
When the summer smells like apples
and shadows feel cool
and falling leaves make dapples
of color on the pool
and wind is in the maples
and sweaters are the rule
and hazy days spell lazy ways,
it's hard to go to school.
But I go!

Crayons
by Helen H. Moore
I had a box of crayons,
All shiny, straight, and new.
I lent a friend one crayon,
And-oops-it broke in two!
My friend said she was sorry,
But I said "I don't care,
'cause now we both can color
with one crayon-we can share!"

I’m a Little Sunflower
(I’m a Little Teapot)
I’m a little sunflower,
I’m so small.
Soil, sun, and water
Make me tall.
When I get all grown-up
You will see
That I’m as big as I can be!
 |
Manners
We say “Thank you.”
We say “Please,”
And “Excuse me,”
When we sneeze.
That’s the way
We do what’s right.
We have Manners.
We’re polite.

Apple Poem
An apple for the teacher
Is really nothing new,
Except when you remember
Parents are teachers, too!

If You're Ready
(If You're Happy and You Know It)
If you're ready for a story, find a seat.
If you're ready for a story, find a seat.
If you're ready for a story,
Check you hands and then you feet.
If you're ready for a story, find a seat.

Name
(If
You're Happy & You Know It)
The first thing on my paper is my name,
The first thing on my paper is my name,
My teacher needs to know who did the work and so,
The first thing on my paper is my name! |

In August
(Over the River and Through the Woods)
Late in the summer, before the fall
It's off to school we go.
We get on the bus which carries us
To a building we all know!
Late in the summer, before the fall
I find the class for me.
The year is new, new things to do,
I'm happy as can be!
Late in the summer, before the fall
It's off to school we go.
The teacher is there beside her chair
And gives a big "hello!"
Late in the summer, before the fall
I'm in my class with friends!
The school year brings exciting things
I hope it never ends! |
Good Morning!
Good morning, good morning!
School has begun.
Good morning, good morning!
Isn't it fun!
Pencils and crayons
Scissors and glue
Erasers and paper
Reading books, too.
Good morning, good morning!
School has begun.
Good morning, good morning!
Isn't it fun!

Welcome
Welcome, children
I'm happy you're here.
We're all going to have
A wonderful year.
We'll read
And we'll write
And we'll sing
And we'll play.
We'll build
And we'll paint
And learn new things
Each day.
~D. Browning and M.J. Hur |
I Like to Go To School
(Farmer in the Dell)
I like to go to school
I like to go to school
Heigh-ho-the-derry-oh,
I like to go to school.
I like to sing new songs.
I like to sing new songs.
Heigh-ho-the-derry-oh,
I like to sing new songs.
I like to play with friends.
I like to play with friends.
Heigh-ho-the-derry-oh,
I like to play with friends. |

The Nicest Thing
The nicest thing about being in school,
Is not the books you take.
It's not the crayons or the paints-
But the friends you make!
