                                  January Poetry

Happy New Year
 (Alouette)

Happy New Year
Happy New Year,
Happy, Happy New Year.
Happy New Year,
20__.
Cheer the Year
(Row Your Boat)
Cheer, cheer, cheer  the year,
A new one’s just begun.
Celebrate with all your friends,
Let’s go have some fun!
Clap, clap, clap your hands,
A brand new year is here.
Learning, laughing, singing, clapping,
Through another year.

Sliding
(Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

Crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch, crunch
Up the the hill we go –
Sliding, sliding, sliding, sliding
Down the hill we go.

 Snowflakes
(Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star)

Snowflakes, snowflakes
Dance around
Snowflakes, snowflakes
Touch the ground
Snowflakes, snowflakes
In the air
Snowflakes, snowflakes
Everywhere!

Snowflakes Falling
(Mary Had a Little Lamb)

Snowflakes falling from the sky,
from the sky, from the sky
Snowflakes falling from the sky,
to the earth below.

Watch them as they dance and whirl,
dance and whirl, dance and whirl
Watch them as they dance and whirl,
soft white winter snow.

Build A Little Snowman
(I'm A Little Teapot)

Build a little snowman,
Starting with his feet.
Put on lost of snow,
And pat it so neat.
Make a round ball,
And put it on the top.
Then the sun will come out and melt.

January

In January
it's so nice
while slipping
on the sliding ice
to sip hot chicken soup
with rice.

Sipping once
sipping twice
sipping chicken soup
with rice.

Mittens

Thumbs in the thumb place
Fingers all together,
This is the song
We sing in mitten weather.
When it is cold
It doesn't matter whether
Mittens are wool
or made of finest leather.

I Built A Little Snowman
(I'm A Little Teapot)

I built a little snowman
He had a carrot nose.
Along came a bunny,
And what do you suppose?

That hungry little bunny
Looking for his lunch,
Ate the snowman's nose
Nibble, nibble, crunch!

Five Little Snowmen
(I'm A Little Teapot)

Five little snowmen, sitting in a row,
Each with a hat and a bright red bow.
Five little snowmen dressed up for a show.
Now they are ready, where will they go?

Winter

Whoosh!
Goes the toboggan
Crunch!
Goes the snow
Squeak!
Go the runners
And Eeeeeek!
Is how we go!

Snow blows
In bunches
Snow sparkles
And crunches.

We’re All Different
(Coming round the Mountain)
We’re all very different, yes, we know
Yes, we know!
We’re all very different, yes, we know
Yes, we know!
From our heads down to our toes…
Like the little flakes of snow…
We are all very different, yes, we know
Yes, we know!
Winter Changes

(Twinkle Little Star)
Winter, winter, look and see
Al the changes around me
Plants are sleeping; trees are bare
Frosty mornings, chilly air
Winter, winter, look and see
All the changes around me.

I Am A Snowman

I am a snowman, cold and white.
I stand so still all through the night.
I have a carrot nose way up high,
And a lump of coal to make each eye.

The Snow

This is the way the snow comes down,
Upon a winter day,
But soon the golden sun comes out,
And melts it all away.
Snow is clean and cold
Snow is crisp, and yet
When it warms a little
Snow is wet.

My sled

I button up good.
I pull on a glove.
I sit on my sled.
I give it a shove.
The snow stings my face,
As the wind whistles shrill.
As I'm on my sled
Flying, zip, down the hill.

The Snow Blanket

Beautiful feathery flakes of snow
Over the woodland and field they go,
Making a blanket so warm and deep,
Over the flowers that lie asleep.

Snow Song

I like to walk on fresh fallen snow
The kind that whispers and speaks.
It sings a song as I walk along
With crackles and scrunches and squeaks.

The Snowman Ran
(Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

The snow, snow, snowman
Came out to play
But they cried, get back inside
The sun is out today.

The snow, snow, snowman
Started to run away
But when he ran, he ran and ran
Until a puddle lay.

It Is Snowing
(Frere Jacques)

It is snowing, it is snowing
All around, all around
Soft and quiet snowflakes
Soft and quiet snowflakes
Not a sound, not a sound.

Snowfriend

Pack a snowball, make it round.
Roll it, roll it, along the gorund.
Make one big ball,
and one of middle size;
Then roll a smaller ball.
Add a nose and eyes>
Give him a broom and
a scarf of blue.
Now there's a friend to
play with you!

Snowballs

Here's a snowball,
Here's a snowball!
A great big snowball I see.
Can you count them?
Are you ready?
One!
Two!
Three!

Snowflakes

I like snowflakes.
Ask me why. Why?
Because they fall from the sky,
Because they seem to dance and fly,
Because they pile up so high,
Because they are so white and dry.
Because they melt in my hand,
Because they're quiet when they land.
Because, because, because,
That' why,
I like snowflakes!

January

January
Now is here
A brand new start
For a brand new year!

Build A Snowman
(Are You Sleeping)

Build a snowman, build a snowman
Big and round, big and round
Sun is shining on him, sun is shining on him
He's all gone, he's all gone.

Snowflakes Falling
(Row, Row, Row Your Boat)

Snowflakes falling down,
Falling on the ground.
Great big white flakes
That do not make a sound.

Icicles

We are little icicles
Melting in the sun.
Can you see tiny teardrops
Falling one by one?

The Snowman

First the body
Then the head.
A stove pipe hat,
A scarf of red.
Sticks for arms,
And coal black toes.
Pebbles for eyes
And a carrot nose.

Lacy Snowflakes
(London Bridge is Falling Down)

Lacy snowflakes falling down,
Falling down, falling down,
Lacy snowflakes falling down,
Tickly, tingly snowflakes.

Snow

Snow blows
In bunches.
Snow sparkles
And crunches.

Snow is clean & cold.
Snow is crisp, and yet
When it warms a little,
Snow is wet.

 Any winter day, I know,
Is pleasanter when there is snow.

Snow

Tiny ice crystals
In freezing weather,
tiny ice crystals
Sticking together.
What do they make?
A single snow flake!

My Snowman

This is a snowman
as round as a ball.
he has two large eyes,
but he is not very tall.
If the sun shines down
on him today,
My jolly snowman will melt away.
Snowmen

Five little snowmen
standing in a row,
Each with a hat and a big red bow.
Five little snowmen
dressed for a show,
Now they are ready,
where will they go?
Wait till the sun shines;
soon they will go
Down through the fields
with the melting snow.

Melting Snowmen

Here's a snowman round and fat;
Out comes the sun and
melts his hat.
Here's a snowman with a
scarf of red;
Out comes the sun and
melts his middle.
Here's a snowman who
waits for dawn;
Out comes the sun and
he's all gone!

Sleds

Here's a great big hill,
With snow all over the side.
And now let's take our sleds
And down the hill we'll slide.

Five Fat Snowmen

Five fat snowmen were knocking at my door.
This one melted, and then there were four.
Four fat snowmen were playing with me;
One more, melted, and then there were three.
Three fat snowmen want to play with you,
But the next began to melt and that left two.
Two fat snowmen, before the day was done,
Another one melted and then there was one!
One fat snowman stayed out in the sun-
Silly fat snowman!  Now there are none!
