1
cent is a penny
10
cents is a dime,
5
cents is a nickel,
Now you know that I’m
Learning about money
And which coin is which
Don’t forget the quarter,
It’s worth 25 cents!

A Penny Is One Cent
A
penny is one cent.
(stamp your foot)
A
nickel is five.
(slap your thigh)
A
dime is ten cents.
(clap our hands)
A
quarter twenty-five.
(snap your fingers over your head)
How
many cents have I on this try.
Snap, stamp, stamp would be 27 cents. |
|

Penny, penny,
Easily
spent.
Copper
brown
And
worth one cent.
Nickel, nickel,
Thick
and fat.
You’re
worth five cents,
I know
that!
Dime,
dime,
Little
and thin.
I
remember,
You
are worth ten!
Quarter, quarter,
Big
and bold.
You’re
worth twenty-five
I am
told.

Money Rap
Well I know a song
It's really kind of funny
It's all about coins
And learning to count money
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Now a penny means one (hold out 1 finger)
And a nickel means five (hold out 5 fingers)
Dimes are worth ten (hold out 10 fingers)
And quarters twenty five (flash... 10 twice &
then 5)
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Five pennies in a nickel (hold out 1 hand-
fingers
stretched)
Two nickels in a dime (hold out 2 fingers)
Five nickels in a quarter (hold out 1 hand -
fingers
stretched)
You'll know it every time! (using both hands do
a
downward motion)
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
Pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters Yeah!!

Money Rhymes
Twenty five cents,
Money that rhymes,
Take one nickel
Add two dimes.
Three fat nickels,
One thin dime.
Makes twenty-five cents
Every time.
Five fat nickels,
No thin dimes.
Makes twenty-five cents
Any time. |

Smart
My dad have me one dollar bill
"Cause I'm his smartest son,
And I swapped it for two shiny quarters
"Cause two is more than one!
And then I took the quarters
and traded them to Lou
For three dimes--I guess he don't know
That three is more than two!
Just then, along came old blind Bates
And just 'cause he can't see
He gave me four nickels for my three dimes,
And four is more than three!
And I tood the nickels to Hiram Coombs
Down at the seed-feed store,
And the fool gave me five pennies for them,
And five is more than four!
And then I went and showed my dad,
And he got red in the cheeks
And closed his eyes and shook his head-
Too proud of me to speak!

Coins
(The Ants Go Marching)
The penny is small and brown, you see
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The penny is small and brown, you see
Hurrah! Hurrah!
The penny is small and brown, you see
Hurrah! Hurrah!
It's worth one cent;
That's enough for me!
And it jingle-jangles down in my pocket
With the rest of the coins.
Clink! Clink! Clink!
Additional verses:
The nickel is silver and smooth all around.
It's worth five cents, heads up or down.
The dime is tiny and silver too.
It's worth ten cents' I know it's true.
The quarter is the biggest one.
It's worth 25 cents, and now we're done.

The Baby Kangaroo
"My baby is a bright
one,"
said the mother kangaroo.
"With money in my pocket,
he knows just what to do."
He counts the
nickels all by fives.
The dimes he counts by ten.
And if they drop, he quickly
picks them up and counts again.
Each time I give my
son a coin
he always hollers, "Thanks!"
And when he's got a lot of them,
He puts them in his bank! |
Valuable Verses
(Are You Sleeping)
Penny, penny. Penny, penny.
Worth one cent. Worth one cent.
Nickels are worth five.

Dimes are ten. Dimes are ten.
Quarter, quarter. Quarter, quarter.
Twenty-five. Twenty -five.
That's what they are worth.

That's a nickel more.
Six a penny,
Seven a penny,
Eight a penny,
More,
Nine a penny,

That's a dime for the store! |
Four Bright Coins
Four bright coins shining at me,
The first one said, "I'm a penny you see."
The second one said, "How do you do?
I'm called a nickel, and I'm bigger than you!"
The third one said, "You're both small stuff,
If you want to buy something, you're not enough!
But look at me, I'm small, and I shine,
I can buy something cuz I'm a dime."
The last coin looked at them all and laughed,
"All of you together don't measure up to me,
Cuz I'm a quarter, can't you see?" |

My
Piggy Bank
Monday I found a penny
And put it in my shoe.
Tuesday I found a penny
And now I've got two!
Wednesday I found a penny.
Oh! What fun for me!
I added it to the others
And that made three.
Thursday I found a shiny nickel.
It was the color gray.
Mom said to save them all
For some rainy day.
On
Friday I found a quarter.
It was big, silver, and round.
It was hiding in the tall grass
Laying on the ground.
Saturday I found a little dime.
It was the smallest coin I found.
It was laying near a little stream...
Do you think it could've drowned?
On
Sunday I found a dollar bill,
Paper worn and green.
Dad said, "Hey! That's worth a lot!
One hundred pennies, I mean!
A
little pig came oinking by
And saw all of my money.
He said, "Just drop them in my back,
I'll save them in my tummy!"
