Fairbury Public Schools
Physical Education Philosophy
The philosophy of the Fairbury
Public Schools is to develop and attain the best possible physical and
mental health of all students. Through this students should develop
attitudes, appreciation, interests, and skills which should contribute to
the satisfactory use of leisure time. The program should provide
participation of all students in seven major areas of emphasis. These
areas of emphasis are the goals that the physical education curriculum is
developed upon. These goals are:
A. Students will demonstrate
competency in many movement forms and proficiency in a few movement forms
B. Students will apply
movement concepts to the learning and development of motor skills.
C. Students will exhibit
physically active lifestyles.
D. Students will achieve and
maintain a health-enhancing level of physical fitness.
E. Students will demonstrate
appropriate social behavior in physical activity settings.
F. Students will demonstrate
understandings and respect for differences among people in physical
activity settings.
G. Technology and writing
skills are to be integrated into the physical education curriculum.
